SSU RD/E projects win VICARP Cluster 3 Interagency RD/E Review

The extension project entitled “Leveraging Technology and Partnerships in Improving Banana Chips Industry in Paranas, Samar” of Vivian Moya and Felisa E. Gomba was adjudged the Best Extension Project during the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture Resources Program (VICARP) and Regional Research and Development Extension Network (RRDEN) Cluster 3 Inter-Agency RD/E Review.

The said IHR was participated in by universities and VICARP/RRDEN member agencies in Samar Island. There were a total of 22 papers preented, two (2) from Eastern Samar State University (ESSU),five (5) from Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), six (6) from University of Eastern Philippines and nine (9) from Samar State University.

The on-going paper entitled “Engineered Coconut Leaflet Midrib Lumber” from the college of engineering was awarded as the best on-going paper. Another two papers also qualified for the Regional RDE Symposium for Poster Presentation. The paper of Ronald Orale entitled “Flood Risk Assessment of the Antiao River Control Project in Catbalogan City, Samar Philippines” and “Mangrove Ecosystems Status and Trends in Selected Municipalities of Samar” by Diana Shane A. Balendo, Art Roncesvalles, Estrella Anano and Mirador Labrador will compete for the best poster category during the regional summit to be held October 2015.

There were six more papers from SSU which was presented during the Cluster 3 Inter Agency RD/E Review held at Juvies Resort Hotel and Restaurant in San Roque Buri, Catbalogan City.
