Nine (9) of SSU projects qualified in the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) 2013 which will be held at Robinson’s Place in Tacloban City on August 19-21, 2013. The 9 projects includes 2 utility models and 7 creative research projects (sibol college category) namely;
Creative Research:
- 1.The effectiveness of balimbing and kamias extracts as mosquito repellent/larvae killer
- 2.Automated mosquito attractor and killing system
- 3.Design and development of electric energy consumption and monitoring system
- 4.Portable slicing machine
- 5.Blast fishing alarm system
- 6.Development of CMOS-based and SMS-featured AC power outage monitoring system
- 7.Log in/out monitoring system for classroom using biometric scanner
Utility Models
- 1.Biodegradable plastic
- 2.Standard process of fermenting rock oyster (sisi)
In the 2011 RICE, SSU was declared grandslam winner in the Sibil Category for winning top 3 awards. Consequently, the SSU project representing Region 8 in the National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) in 2012 was declared 2nd in the Sibol Category. The same project was also considered first place by the Philippine development Alternatives Foundation (PDAF) and 2nd placer by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, (FFCCI).
