Cardoso: “And we start today! This is it.”
“And we start today! This is it. No turning back. We have to, for this is a must. We can’t stop the world from its unpredictable future,” said Dr. Marilyn Cardoso in a 9:00AM International Organization for Standardization (ISO) meeting with the key university officials today, January 4 (17), at the Audio Visual Center (AVC).
Samar State University (SSU) expressed the intent to undertake ISO 9001:2008 through a contract signing with AJA Registrars, Inc. last September 14 (15) and given the approved date of audit for two days starting today to January 5 under the PJob Number (s) PHI-18808-1-Q, stage 1 type of audit.
Mr. Melvin Grueso from AJA Registrars and ISO team leader and code holder/technical expert will visit SSU Main and Mercedes campuses as the official sites. “Verification of document readiness for stage 2 or documentation audit is the goal of stage 1,” Grueso explained.
What is ISO 9001:2008?
ISO 9001:2008 is the title of a document (Standard) that outlines the requirements an organization must maintain in their quality system for ISO 9001:2008 certification. There are several different documents in the ISO 9000 family of standards, but ISO 9001-2008 is the only ISO standard that requires certification.
ISO is internationally recognized as providing a framework for a quality management system that can be easily interpreted for all areas of industry and commerce. It provides framework for monitoring and measuring process performance and operations ensuring increased efficiency and improved customer satisfaction.
“We prepare ourselves for something big, something worthwhile, and something significant,” Cardoso stressed ISO definition and therefore never to be complacent for the definition of what is best today may not be true tomorrow. She added a quote from Will Foster that quality is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives.
