SSU brings aid to SLSU for ‘Odette’ victims

SOGOD, SOUTHERN LEYTE – A week after the onslaught of Typhoon “Odette”, Samar State University (SSU) key officials and personnel organized a love drive for the victims in Sogod, Southern Leyte and the donations raised were personally brought by the University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso to Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) on December 23 (21).

Southern Leyte was placed under a state of calamity because of the massive destruction of the typhoon leaving thousands of families homeless and in need of rescue, recovery and relief.

Tagged as “BULIG: A Love Drive”, SSU in cooperation with the 23 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) under the chairmanship of Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag joined hands to help the people of Sogod, Southern Leyte recover through donations.

Receiving the relief assistance was SLSU President Dr. Ivy Prose G. Yepes.

Despite the almost six-hour travel and the partly blocked roads, the SSU team still pushed through to personally hand-over the donations.
