CATBALOGAN CITY─ Twenty five (25) BS Statistics students of Samar State University (SSU) joined a collaborative lecture to discover Japan via zoom web conferencing on November 12 (21).
As part of the course GEE6 (Foreign Language), Dr. Elmer A. Irene, course Professor and SSU’s Director of the Office of International Affairs, invited Dr. Freddy Yu, Professor of Yamagata University, to share bits and pieces of information about Japan to SSU students.
Talk on Japanese culture, festival, customs, rituals, ceremonies, and many others covered Dr. Yu’s presentation.
“Thank you so much Dr. Freddy Yu for sparing time to educate us about the culture and traditions of the Japanese people. We are really honored, privilege, and grateful for your presence and inputs. We believe that this experience is be very beneficial to us as SSU promotes exchange students. This is our way of embracing various cultures and traditions to advance education throughout the globe,” said a student attendee, Mr. July A. Delapina, in his Word of Thanks.
In 2018, SSU and Yamagata University inked a Memorandum of Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding and sustained collaboration since then.
This activity is just but one of the many activities lined up by the Office of International Affairs for SSU student engagement along internationalization as the University continues to build its foundation of an international university and dream to become one of the top 200 universities in Asia by 2040.
