CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) through the office of the Museum and Archives headed by Prof. Jhonil S. Bajado in partnership with SSU DYSY 102.9 and the Social Studies Circle provided a platform for Msgr. Lope C. Robredillo, SThD to officially release his book titled “Homonhon Island: The Correct Site of the First Mass in the Philippines” on September 29 (21) at the SSU Convention Center with the University Radio covering the event.
Garnering 200 (and counting) views on Facebook, the book’s debut marked history as Msgr. Robredillo exposed the earliest recorded mass in the Philippine territory to be in Homonhon Island and not in Limasawa as known popularly.
As a recognition for this achievement, a Certificate of Recognition and a University Medallion were awarded to Msgr. Robredillo by the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso.
Several reviews were shared by ‘history enthusiasts’ and copies of the book were turned over to Catbalogan National Comprehensive High School (CNCHS), Samar College (SC) Library, Samar National School (SNS) Library, Samar Provincial Library, St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan (SMCC), and SSU Library for public reading.
