New research centers join forces for stakeholders’ consultative meeting

CATBALOGAN CITY – The Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SICGLG) and the Samar Island Adult Education and Technology Learning Center (CAETLE) spearheaded a joint stakeholder consultative meeting on September 15 (21) at the SSU Convention Center.

Dr. Abigail M. Cabaguing, SICGLG Director, explained her center’s thrusts and priority programs which are to provide support to Local Government Units (LGU), Good Governance Advocacy, and Collaboration Partnership with Good Government Advocacy.

Meanwhile, Dr. Marife M. Lacaba, CATLE Director, mentioned that her thrusts and priority programs include the Community-Based Training for Enterprise Development Program, Basic Literacy Program and Sheltered Workshop for Marginalized Adults and Indigenous People, SSU’s Emerging Technologies and Commodities Production for Socioeconomic Development, and the Juanap-Buhay/Entre-Pinay.

The Directors acknowledged the critical role of the stakeholders in engaging and providing inputs to achieve the goal of the centers.

In a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), the Vice President for Research and Extension Services Dr. Ronald L. Orale, Executive Director on Extension Prof. Jesus T. Racuyal, Center Directors and Staff and the stakeholders provided their critique and recommendations regarding the proposed priority programs of the two centers.

The centers look forward into the translation of various issues into policy framework to hit one of SSU’s strategic goal which the reduction of poverty incidence in the province of Samar.
