SSU-ITSO leads IP Application Workshop

CATBALOGAN CITY – The Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) of Samar State University (SSU) headed by Director Vivian L. Moya held a two-day face-to-face Intellectual Property (IP) Applications Workshop to all budding innovators in Catbalogan City who would want to protect their IP rights and apply their inventions for registration.

On June 10 (21), almost 50 faculty attended the first day of the workshop with high hopes that they will be recognized as the creator of their patent, utility model, trademark, and design through IP application.

With the efforts invested by ITSO, more IP applications will be rendered by the university for registration and grant. This is one way of the University to retain its name after it has been awarded as the Top Patent Filer of the Philippines in 2019.

University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, showed full support on the event’s purpose when she gave her opening message.

Serving as speakers for the two-day event were Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, Engr. Jan Floro Bautista, Engr. Nikko Ardel P. Floretes, and Engr. Raven C. Tabiongan who tackled 1) Overview of Intellectual Property, 2) Copyright [Lecture], 3) Copyright Workshop, 4) Importance of Utility Model and Patents, and 5) Trademark and Application, respectively.

The workshop was concluded on June 11 (21).
