R8’s Peace, Development Conference takes place at SSU

CATBALOGAN CITY – The Sectoral Unification, Capacity Building, Empowerment, and Mobilization Cluster (SUCBEM) of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) chose Samar State University (SSU) as the venue for the Regional Conference for Peace and Development (RCPD) which started on May 24 (21).

More than 170 summed up representatives from the youth, peasant, IP, women, labor, and farmer-fisherfolk sectors were housed in the four venues around the SSU campus while other attendees participated virtually via Zoom.

During his opening remarks, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Darwin N. Bibar, CESO V, expressed his gratitude to SSU President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, for the technical assistance and the shared resources which are instrumental to the success of the conference.

The conference’s primary goal is to gather legitimate concerns by creating a genuine platform for dialogue among different sectors in the region which SSU supports.

The RCPD continued until May 25 ending the event with a press conference attended by media teams across the region.
