CATBALOGAN CITY– Samar State University’s President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, conveyed an Inspirational Message during the Annual Student Teachers’ Convention on March 27, 2021 via Zoom Web Conferencing.
She was invited by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educator (PAFTE) Region 8 Chapter who organized the event under the theme, “The Present Normal for Pre-Service Teachers: Stories of Small Wins”.
In the unfolding of her message, the empowered and highly-achieving lady encouraged the audience to recognize small wins happening in life because “Small wins are big wins,” she said.
“Your eagerness to pursue your teaching career amidst the challenging times manifests small win in you…that alone is a small thing but big thing…The fact that you chose to attend because you want to learn something is also a small win,” Dr. Cardoso articulated in her message.
She also imparted the four (4) lessons she learned as a teacher which are: (1) Teaching is self-giving, (2) Teaching is inspiring, (3) Teaching is hopeful, and (4) Teaching is life itself.
And as a conclusion, she reiterated the role of teachers as special builders and God’s co-builders.
Teacher interns from both public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Region VIII participated and served as the audience of the convention.
Also featured in the event were Ms. Christelle Angelica C. Corpin, the Academic Coordinator of St. Therese Child Development Center Foundation, Inc. and selected students from Leyte Normal University (LNU), Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), Visayas State University (VSU), and Samar State University (SSU).
