CATBALOGAN CITY – Along with other sectors, Samar State University (SSU) joined the First Quarter Online Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on March 11 (21) via Facebook live hosted by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through the Office of Civil Defense.
NDRRMC Chairperson and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said in his key message that despite the pandemic, the nation still has to be prepared for earthquakes that could happen any time.
The SSU-DRRMO, Mr. Juniel Tagarino, encouraged the SSU community to witness the Online Ceremonial Pressing of the Button which happened at 2PM.
It aimed at enhancing preparedness capacity among Filipinos across the country.
SSU faculty and students participated in the online drill as they learned the duck, cover, and hold earthquake measures. The event boosted to 299,000 views, 52,000 comments, and 39,000 reacts from netizens.
