CATBALOGAN CITY – With the increasing risk of coronavirus infection in the country, Samar State University (SSU) doubles the effort in managing the biosecurity risks of COVID-19 in the campus by installing footbaths in the entrance areas of the University.
Footwear can pose a very real risk because people can unintentionally carry disease-causing organisms. So, the University President, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, initiated the intent to disinfect footwear using a footbath containing a strong sanitizing product.
This scheme was implemented to strengthen the SSU Bantay COVID-19 program of the University in response to the pandemic virus.
Footbaths are a useful and inexpensive method of cleaning footwear before entering and exiting offices in the University.
These footbaths installed around the University are refreshed regularly as build-up of dirt and water in the solution will lessen their effectiveness.
The University is encouraging other facilities to do the same in assuring the safety of the community.
