Samar State University (SSU) through the Planning Management Office (PMO) conducted a 3-day workshop on Management Review of the University Strategic Plan 2017-2021 on December 4-6, 2019 in Summit Hotel, Marasbaras, Tacloban City.
The workshop was attended by the managers and support staff of the different units (Academic Units, Research and Extension Units, Student Affairs Units, Administrative Units, and SSU Mercedes Campus).
Engr. Rodrigo G. Estrada, Planning Management Officer, stated that the workshop is crucially important since it will pave way to SSU’s vision through an improved reputation which is anchored on international standards.
“For the planning period, the University plans to be a Level V SUC. However, two years after the approval of the Strategic Plan by the Board of Regents of the University, there is a need to revisit the University’s Strategic Plan 2017-2021 to determine the impact of the current strategic plan in achieving the organizational goals, objectives and its directives and taking corrective actions whenever required,” he stated.
The workshop intends to: (1) evaluate the mission statement of the University if the mission is still evolved over the past year; (2) assess the University vision’s feasibility by tracking the identified strategies based on the achievable targets that will inspire and energize individuals at all levels of the Organization; (3) identify if there is a need to revise, or to remove the strategic elements in the plan; (4) consider the risks based on the management review; (5) include the directives under RA No. 11396 or the “SUCs Land Use Development Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP) Act” on August 22, 2019 in the University Strategic Plan; and (6) come up with a final report or update of the 2017-2021 University Strategy Plan.
