“He is a multi-faceted man, a dynamic leader, a well-rounded educator, a writer, and a devout family man.” This is how Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega was introduced in the Faculty In-House Seminar-Workshop at Samar State University, Catbalogan City where he was invited to talk on the topic, “Revolutionizing Philippine Higher Education” with the theme: The Prospects and Future Challenges of Higher Education last July 22, 2019.
Focusing on the topic, the audience expected it to be stiff and complicated; however, everyone was surprised with Arcega’s strategies. He made the participants laugh and cry while attending to his lecture. He delivered the topic smoothly and lively relating it to the people’s lives and experiences which made the audience connect to the topic at hand.
“Be clear about your vision. You are in the academe because of a vision not by accident,” Arcega says. “Don’t allow other people define your vision, you owe it to yourself,” he added.
Arcega spread positive vibes while sharing his words full of vision and wisdom. His experiences have proven his ability to lead organizations and people. Being the Chairman of the Board of Diliman College and Diliman Educational Corportion in Commonwealth, Quezon City, Full Professor at the University of Makati and President and Executive Director of the Commission on Accreditation for Local Colleges and Universities (ALCUCO) and Executive Director of ALCU and ALCU Athletic Association and Vice Chairman of the National Network for Quality Assurance (NNQAA) are indeed manifestations that he is an epitome of a modern-day educator and manager, progressive-minded, dynamic-mover and highly adaptive to the changing needs of the fast moving generation, not to mention his other notable accomplishments in life.
The SSU community was really “feeling blessed and favored” for having him as one of the resource speakers. Exceeding the morning session discussion up to 1:15 in the afternoon was no joke, sustaining the high energy of the audience up to that holy hour was a miracle but Arcega made it. Indeed, a revolutionary lecturer who deserves a standing ovation.
