Catbalogan City – “This university does not just need leaders, but servant leaders; not just to vote wisely, but to vote righteously,” stressed Rusty Madeja, a member of the SSU (Samar State University) Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in his opening remarks during the grand rally for the University Student Council Election 2018 last March 15 at the College of Arts and Sciences Grounds.
In its pursuit to achieve a God-centered election, the Chi Alpha Organization, spearheaded by Victor M. Plasabas as president, strictly abided to the COMELEC rules and by-laws.
“We want a fair-and-square decision on everything. That is why, we would be faithful to what is written in the by-laws, having sound judgment on every single matter,” Plasabas said during the grand rally.
“The Chi Alpha would like to start a change in this campus on how we choose our leaders. I want to give you the greatest MODEL of LEADERSHIP: Jesus Christ. As said in His Word, ‘Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.’ He led with authority, humility, compassion to [sic] others and above all, with reliance upon the Almighty Father. May we remember this as we pick the right people,” he concluded.
The USC election 2018 last March 16 went well as said by Mr. Plasabas. Though complaints arouse during the voting period, they were able to solve them immediately.
“So far, there were no acts of cheating during the election. Both parties fought the right way,” he stated.
