CoEng holds 1st Ring & Pinning Ceremony for aspiring computer engineers

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University’s (SSU) College of Engineering celebrated a significant milestone today, February 5, 2025, with its first-ever Computer Engineering (CPE) Ring and Pinning Ceremony held at the SSU Convention Center with the theme, “Creating Pioneers for Excellence.” The ceremony saw 28 fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCE) students receive their rings and pins as a symbol of their transition into the professional world.

CoEng Dean Engr. Meddy S. Mangaring, duly represented by CoEng Associate Dean Engr. Maynard R. Dalemit, delivered a welcome message, highlighting the importance of the pin and ring as a pledge to uphold high standards of ethical responsibility as practitioners in the field.

“This event symbolizes your transition from the academia to the industrial practice. The world of technology awaits your brilliance, creativity, and legacy,” Engr. Dalemit remarked.

Moreover, in his inspirational message, SSU President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia urged the students to anchor themselves to the university’s core values and vision as they traverse the professional industry.

The 28 students, having fulfilled their on-the-job training (OJT) pledge and commitment today, will soon embark on their respective internships this upcoming second semester of AY 2024-2025.

The SSU community, faculty, and families of the CPE students joined the landmark event today as a promising look at these aspirants’ future contributions to the field of computer engineering.
