CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar – In recognition of the youth’s crucial role in fostering effective local governance, the Samar Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) and Samar State University (SSU), through the Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SICGLG), conducted the SIRAK ACADEMY: Bridging Leadership Course from July 3 to 5, 2024, at the SSU Convention Center, Catbalogan City, Samar.
The training aimed to equip the participating youth with leadership skills and empower them to become catalysts of positive change in their communities. Over the course of three days, 29 participants engaged in a series of interactive sessions, workshops, and discussions designed to enhance their leadership skills, strategic thinking, and community engagement.
Among the esteemed Resource Speakers who guided the participants enhance their leadership capabilities include, Dr. Elmer Soriano, Director of the Bridging Leadership Institute, Dr. Jevai Palomas, President of JCI Catbalogan Balud, Dr. Abigail M. Cabaguing, Director of SSU-SICGLG, and Ms. Julie Ann M. Quilatan and Mr. Alfonso Alex C. Labrague Jr., SICGLG Faculty Researchers.
With initiatives like the Bridging Leadership Course, the potentials of a Samarnon youth are unleashed. The youth are not just the future of Samar—they are the present. Their energy, vision, and dedication can transform the community towards a brighter tomorrow.
