CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar – In pursuit of human resource empowerment, the Samar State University (SSU) through Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SICGLG) hosted a Training of Trainers for Peace Builders on June 18 to 19, 2024 at the RIC Audio-Visual Center of SSU-Main Campus, Catbalogan City, Samar.
SICGLG brought together a total of 29 Project Development Officers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 8 with the aim to equip them with essential tools and skills to foster peace and harmony within communities. The program was designed to enhance the trainers’ capabilities in several key areas, including understanding the mindset of Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) beneficiaries, building trust and rapport, trauma-informed care, stress management and self-care, and psycho-social preparation.
Gaining valuable insights by demonstrating commendable performance in various activities, the participants listened to selected SSU personnel who shared expertise in their respective domains, namely Dr. Abigail M. Cabaguing, Director of the Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance, Dr. Mae V. Cañal, Director of SSU- Student Welfare and Development Services, Ms. Andrea C. Del Rosario, Head of Psychological Wellness and Services, Ms. Mary Jane B. Cinco, CAS Faculty/ GAD Coordinator, and Mr. Alvinco T. Porton, Head of Admission and Recruitment Services.
