SSU, RAFI MFI continue joint initiatives to promote livelihood sustainability

Article by Mar June J. Gabon

In a remarkable demonstration of ongoing partnership, Samar State University’s (SSU) Center for Lifelong Learning (SSU-CeLL) and RAFI Microfinance Inc. (RAFI MFI) have once again teamed up to establish sustainable livelihoods to local communities through training sessions on banana chip production and pork siomai making on June 15, 2024 held at Paranas, Samar, Philippines.

RAFI MFI, a social development organization that provides financial services to underserved communities, collaborated with SSU-CeLL in this new livelihood sustainability training program with SSU faculty members, Charlotte Mae Abuda and Jonafe Matugas, leading the training on the entire food processing of banana chip and pork siomai, from ingredient section, cooking techniques, and packaging.

Aimed to providing participants with valuable skills for starting their own small businesses, the partnership is an outstanding demonstration of SSU-CeLL and RAFI MFI’s dedication to economic empowerment and community development.
