TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – In a move to strengthen the preparations for the upcoming 5th International and 8th National Poverty Conference (PovCon), Samar State University convened with the Philippine Statistics Office (PSA) Regional Office VIII on June 5, 2024 at the PSA Regional Office, Tacloban City, Philippines.

The collaboration between the two organizations will underscore the importance of evidence-based policymaking, and the critical role that data and statistics play in addressing the multifaceted dilemma on poverty.

Forging the anticipated partnership are PSA RO8 Regional Director Wilma A. Perante and PovCon organizing committee led by Engr. Mirador G. Labrador, SSU’s Vice-President for Research and Extension Services, and Dr. Sherrie Ann C. Labid, SSU’s Executive Director for Research. The agency expressed its full support to SSU in providing the necessary resources and assistance in organizing the conference.
