MARABUT, SAMAR – Samar State University (SSU) has recently forged a linkage with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Marabut, Samar for the launching of three extension programs funded under SSU’s Center for Lifelong Learning (CeLL). The launching took place on May 15, 2024 at the Marabut Municipal Hall, and was attended by SSU’s faculty-extensionists and Marabut LGU representatives.
Seeking to promote collaborative efforts towards fostering sustainable growth, community empowerment, and lifelong learning opportunities within the local community, the three programs include the project led by Ms. Mary Jane Cinco on “Fostering Positive Attitude and Collective Risk-Taking Mindsets,” which aims to build resilience and shape positive attitude among Marabut Women Organizations through psychological constructs; “Empowering and Capacitating Communities through Science-Based Literacy” by Mr. Necasio Abuda which will focus on enhancing literacy through scientific knowledge, aims to uplift community education standards; and “Skills Training on Food Processing for Enterprise Development” by Ms. Charlotte Mae Abuda which centers on providing practical training in food processing, enterprise development, and economic self-sufficiency.
Also highlighted in the launching event was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Marabut Municipality through its Mayor Atty. Percival A. Ortillo Jr and SSU with the three faculty-extensionists.
