CATBALOGAN CITY— The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Samar, together with the LGU Catbalogan City and the Samar State University (SSU), through the Samar Island Center for Good and Local Governance (SICGLG), kicked off the first batch of the 2024 Barangay Newly-Elected (BNEO) Basic Orientation Course cum Basic Barangay Legislation Seminar on February 19 (24) at the SSU Convention Center and CAS Audio-Visual Center.
Attended by SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, DILG Provincial Director Dir. Judy L, Batulan, and Liga President Hon. Sedfrey M. Uy, the activity aims to orient the elected officials of their basic functions and responsibilities as well as come up with plans and other documents necessary in the discharge of their duties, as outlined in the Local Government Code of 1991.
This 3-day activity was participated by Punong Barangay, Sangguniang Barangay Members, and Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson from Brgys. 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, Bunuanan, Cabugawan, Canlapwas, Guindapunan, Mercedes, San Andres, and San Pablo. The next batches of BNEO to attend the same activity are scheduled on February 22-24, 26-28, and Feb 29-March 2 (24).
