CATBALOGAN CITY – In a collaborative effort to bolster sustainable energy practices, a delegation of esteemed engineers from the Alternative and Renewable Energy Center (AREC) from Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) embarked on a two-day benchmarking visit to Samar State University (SSU) on February 19-20 (24).
Dubbed as “Benchmarking Visit on Sustainable Practice for Energy Conservation of SLSU,” the distinguished visitors included Dean of SLSU’s College of Engineering Engr. Julius Paler, Coordinator for Wind and Energy Division at AREC Engr. Joeydann Telin, Coordinator for Solar Energy Division at AREC Engr. Lisandro Bitang, Head of AREC Engr. Jonelle Tablada, Department Head of Mechanical Engineering Engr. Joseph Capilitan, and Laboratory Technician of Engineering Mr. Norberto Labata.
SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso extended a gracious welcome, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to share the University’s wealth of experiences, strategies, and best practices in energy efficiency and sustainability, particularly in the management of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. On the other hand, SSU’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Officer Engr. Rafael P. Escareal elaborated the institution’s energy efficiency initiatives, while Mr. Ruel Amascual highlighted the establishment of the Environmental Sustainability Research and Development Center (ESRDC).
“What you are doing here is the way to do it. It’s really a blessing that we came here to Samar State University,” remarked Engr. Julius O. Paler, Dean of SLSU’s College of Engineering,
Concluding the visit was a University tour at the SSU Main and Mercedes Campuses showcasing SSU’s innovation initiatives along energy conservation sustainability.
