Zhengzhou, China — In a thrilling showdown, Samar State University (SSU) Deers emerged victorious on their first game against SIAS University Team 3 during the 2nd Day of the Intercontinental Collegiate Basketball Tournament in Zhengzhou, China yesterday, September 17 (23), with a final score of 80-57, demonstrating the Deers’ dominance in the basketball court.
The SSU Deers showcased an outstanding display of teamwork, skill, and determination that left their opponents in awe. From the tip-off to the final buzzer, they maintained control of the game, leaving no doubt about their intention to claim victory.
SSU Deers’ head coach, Dr. Randy E. Pacadaljen, praised his team’s performance. Dr. Elmer A. Irene, Director for International Affairs, also commended the team’s efforts in promoting international goodwill through sports.
Being the first team of SSU athletes to go international under the leadership of University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, the SSU Deers would surely grow as great sportsmen with this experience.
As the SIAS University Intercontinental Collegiate Basketball Tournament gains momentum, the SSU Deers will progress in the tournament today with Game 2.
