CATBALOGAN CITY— After going through a rigorous grant administration process, Samar State University (SSU) was among the 25 grantees for funding out of 285 proposals received and reviewed by the National Innovation Council Executive Technical Board.
From a total of 1.2B 2023 Innovation Grants by the National Economic and Development Authority, SSU’s project titled “Full Commercial Application of Project GeoMap: Geospatial Mapping and Information System for Precise Farming and Smart Agriculture” bagged 2.4M.
Led by Engr. Raven C. Tabiongan, the project is a cutting-edge web and mobile platform that seamlessly integrates data analytics and visualization, facilitating the capture of vital information pertaining to selected Samar Province Agri-Municipalities’ agricultural data (farmers’ profiles, crop management, condition, location and coverage of agricultural lands, resource allocation, and environmental sustainability status). And leveraging on predictive and suggestive algorithms with the use of regression, clustering, decision trees, and outliers, the platform empowers users with enhanced decision-making capabilities as it offers an array of innovative features and solutions far beyond from its on-going and current pre-commercialize phase.
With this SSU project, the future towards an intuitive precision agriculture for Samar Island agri-based municipalities is at hand.
