CATBALOGAN CITY— The Commission on Higher Education, together with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Eastern Vssayas including Samar State University (SSU), concluded the 2023 ASEAN Month through a Festival of Talents and Closing Ceremony on August 30 (23) at the Mary Ngo Auditorium of the St. Paul School of Professional Studies in Palo, Leyte.
The event showcased unique and vibrant talents of students from various HEIs as they performed Cultural Dances of the ASEAN Member countries and display their creative skills in various competitions including the Dance sport, Spoken Poetry, and Chorale.
As the performances concluded and the ceremony came to an end, CHED RO 8 headed by Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe announced the winners of the competitions with SSU bringing home the 3rd Place in the Chorale Competition and one of the three Best in Costume for group category and with the University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso winning under the individual category.
With this year’s theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth,” the event proved a success as CHED gathered all HEIs in a festive yet meaningful celebration and as HEIs continually recognized the significance of unity in achieving shared goals.
