Adhering to the theme, “Harnessing Power of Intellectual Property”, Samar State University organized its 1st Intellectual Property Conference for Students last February 14, 2017 at the university’s Audio-Visual Center.
Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante, Dean of the Students’ Development and Related Services, stressed in her opening message the university’s advocacy on intellectual property and continuous quest for patent protection should be developed among the students.
In the morning, topics on the “Basics of Intellectual Property”, “Patent Information”, and “Basics of Patent Research” were discussed by the SSU-ITSO Technical Experts, Engr. Nikko P. Floretes, Engr. Jon Alvin L. Macariola, and Engr. Ryan M. Labutap, respectively. While in the afternoon, Dr. Vivian L. Moya, TLISO Director and Manager of the Innovation Technology and Support Office (ITSO) took charge the Granting Procedure of students’ research projects.
Likewise, to promote and strengthen the said advocacy, an election for the Young Intellectual Property Advocates (YIPA) was conducted after the open forum. Below is the list of the YIPA pioneering officers:
