CATBALOGAN CITY— The Bukas ng Produksiyon ng Kamote sa Agham at Teknolohiya (BUKAS) Team of Samar State University (SSU) was hailed regional winner under the group category of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Pagasa Award announced on July 18 (23).
The award is one of the categories for the 2023 Search for Outstanding Government Workers of the commission and such is conferred to a group of five members for their ‘outstanding contributions resulting from an idea or performance that directly benefit more than one department of the government’.
Evaluated for Noteworthiness of Outstanding Performance, Sustainability of Contribution, Impact of Performance/Achievement, Reliability and Effectiveness, Consistency of Performance, and Demonstrated Teamwork, Cooperation, Camaraderie and Cohesiveness, the entry by the team proved worthy of the award as it emphasized the importance of community-based farm engagement in promoting the utilization of crops such as sweetpotato and highlighted the numerous benefits it can bring to the community including increased food security, improved economic opportunities, and sustainable farming methods.
Being selected at the regional level, the team will advance as national qualifier and will have the chance to join the awarding rites for the outstanding workers by September.
