CATBALOGAN CITY─ In an effort to ensure that the well-being of every Filipino is well taken care of so they can efficiently contribute to building a resilient nation, Samar State University (SSU) joins the nation in the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month through a kick off program today, July 3 (23), at the SSU grounds.
Under the theme “BIDAng Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-Being towards Disaster Resilience”, SSU personnel, specifically the University Key officials headed by President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Felisa E. Gomba, COED Dean Dr. Laura B. Boller, CONHS Dean Dr. Dolores L. Arteche, CAS Dean Dr. Florabelle B. Patosa, DRRM Officer Mr. Gilbey Rosales, faculty and support staff attended the launching with its highlight─ a Zumba dance workout.
In her Message, Dr. Cardoso stated the importance of resiliency.
“At any eventualities, we need to be ever ready to ensure safety,” she said.
Mr. Gilbey echoed Dr. Cardoso’s message, saying, “Disasters– may it be natural or man-made, are inevitable, but, we can be prepared by being vigilant and ready as they are important keys to everyone’s safety.”
The celebration will run for a month with lined up activities such as Declogging of Drainage, Earthquake Drill, Psychosocial Support Training, Webinar on Resilience, and Conduct of Feasibility Study for the BS DRRM Program under the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. With all these, SSU sincerely intends to foster a culture of resilience as it continues to act in accordance to its Resilience and Business Continuity Strategic Plan.
