TACLOBAN CITY – In an effort to promote innovation and protect intellectual property rights, Samar State University – Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (SSU-IPTBDO), through the Proect BRITER Eastern Visayas, spearheaded the Patent Search and Drafting Workshop for Eastern Visayas Technologies on April 11-13 (23) at the Hotel De Fides Conference Hall.
Aimed to share the basics of patent and heighten the performance of other IP offices, the event was attended by 39 local inventors and innovators in the region coming from different universities and colleges including the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), Bohol Island State University (BIPSU), Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Leyte Normal University (LNU), Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU), Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), and SSU.
Serving as speakers were SSU-IPTBDO Director Dr. Vivian L. Moya, SSU ITSO Services Head Engr. Nikko Ardel P. Floretes, SSU SIGISDAC Director Engr. Raven C. Tabiongan, ITSO Technical Expert Engr. Jan Floro Bautista, and Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSU) IP Director Dr. Armando Reosura.
“SSU was the one that helped us attain ou very first IP platinum award from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL),” SLSU’s IP Director Dr. Angel Sabusap said in the event.
This workshop for Eastern Visayas Technologies is just one of the many initiatives of the Project BRITER Eastern Visayas and SSU in the quest to make the whole region a “platinum awardee”.
