Dr. Españo: The Basketball Player

With a towering height of 5’4, the Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Gina U. Españo opted for the ball instead of a crown. She has been an athlete of ball games since high school but her most favorite is dribbling basketball since she was 12 years old.

Discovered in 1891, basketball has been a popular sport among men. However, it has bounced quickly to the forefront of women sports scene and so to the athletic side of Dr. Españo as she became a player of the Teacher Education basketball team at then Divine Word University of Tacloban, now Liceo del Verbo Divino.

“I find basketball so exciting. I like the energy it brings to the players, and especially to the crowd,” Dr. Españo recalled.

Making people happy and being active and mobile for physical fitness has become Dr. Españo’s way of life.

This Basketball Player just #JUANACelebrate women and their prowess to shoot and score a success on anything life throws at them.
