As part of industry preparation of IT students of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Dr. Nathalie A. Acosta, Languages Unit Chair, initiates a Seminar of Effective Communication in the IT Workplace on Wednesday, December 7 (22).
“There is a need to prepare the IT students prior to their OJT, most especially, these are students coming from the pandemic setup whose opportunity for language use in the academe was disturbed,” Dr. Acosta said.
The communication seminar was conducted annually for students and was temporarily stopped due to pandemic. The college looks at the possibility to conduct the seminar to other programs such as in Psychology and Statistics students.
The topics covered in the talk include Enhancing Communication Skills for Future IT Professionals and Effective Communication in the IT Workplace delivered by Ms. Ma. Jessa B. Pacoma of the Publication Office and Mr. Tranie B. Gatil respectively.
CAS Dean, Dr. Florabelle B. Patosa commended the unit for taking the initiative in conducting a ‘relevant and highly needed’ seminar for the students.
