MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Samar State University (SSU) joined the 2022 Philippine Textile Congress together with nine (9) other core participants in the country on November 8-24 (22) held in the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI).
DOST-PTRI brought together researchers, students, creative, industry partners and textile experts to solidify the innovation framework for Philippine textiles.
During the congress, the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) faculty joined the Fashion Design Exhibition wherein garments were displayed exhibiting artistic styles of local fashion and garment student designers by incorporating natural tropical fiber-based textiles and Philippine natural dyes.
Bachelor of Technology Program Chair Rebecca P. Pascual, CIT Research Coordinator Engr. Ma. Cheryl San O. Navarro, CIT Extension Coordinator Myrna Ando and SSU Layout Artist Mary Ann Broderick also joined the Innovation Dialogue, Research Colloquium, and PTRI facility tour.
Central Luzon State University, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, Fashion Institute of the Philippines – Makati, iACADEMY, Iloilo Science and Technology University, Philippine Women’s College of Davao (Official), SoFA Design Institute, and University of San Carlos were also present during the Congress were also present during the congress.
