CATBALOGAN CITY – Project 1 – Regional Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management in VICAARP through RAISE in partnership partnered with the Samar State University – Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (SSU-IPTBDO) in conducting the Regional Workshop on Patent Drafting: IP Protection, Application and Management on October 12-14, 2022 at SSU Convention Center.
The activity was attended by 31 onsite participants from Visayas State University (VSU), Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), Northwest Samar State University (NWSSU), Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) and SSU. Twenty-three (23) joined the three-day training via Zoom.
Topics along Intellectual Property System, Requirements of Patentable Inventions, Patent Search, Invention Spotting (Chemical and Non-Chemical), Claim Drafting, and Specification Drafting.
UEP’s Marivic L. Doncillo and NWSSU’s Dr. Ervin L. Rodriguez emerged as winners for Best Patent Draft Chemical and Mechanical Category with their technologies titled “Antibacterial Cream from Salacia korthalsiana Miq with Biosynthesized ZnONPs for Hyperglycemic Patient and Method of Preparation” and “System and Method for Classifying Document” respectively.
Engr. Raven S. Tabiongan, Project 1 Team Leader, is positive that the workshop will result to an increase in IP filings and consequently enhance the culture of innovation in the region.
