CATBALOGAN CITY – A team of four (4) evaluators from the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 8 and Central Office visited Samar State University (SSU) on June 14-16 (22) to conduct an onsite validation on the three CHED-Institutional Development and Innovation Grants (IDIG) Projects of the University.

Mr. Gregorio T. Atienza, Ms. Raphaella Mae Navarrosa, Mr. Iggy Asis, and Mr. Djay Obediencia conducted the terminal monitoring activity to evaluate the technical, administrative, and financial compliance of the University along the three projects.

“Development of Geo-Referenced Agricultural Mapping and Management System for Samar Island”, “Design and Generation of Hybrid Alternative Energy for Remote and Rural Areas”, and “Enhancing Samar State University’s Learning Management System (LMS)”  were the CHED-IDIG projects monitored.

And among the project sites visited and tagged were the virtual training room, Audio-Visual laboratory, and the printing room.

During the closing program, Ms. Navarrosa congratulated the University for ‘setting the bar’ for developing flexible and hybrid learning facilities.

“Our hearts are filled with joy because of the testimonies we have heard from the participants on how the project helped them. We also would like to thank Dr. Ronald L. Orale for continuing to improve what has already been started and for thinking of the interventions for the challenges encountered,” she stated.

In response, Dr. Ronald L. Orale, Vice President for Research and Extension Services and Project Lead of the third project expressed his gratitude to CHED.

“The University is grateful to CHED for their commitment in providing support to higher education institutions in improving the delivery of the programs through the IDIG,” he stated in his Closing Remarks.
