CATBALOGAN CITY – In celebration of the Mental Health Awareness Month, Samar State University (SSU) through the Psychology Society in partnership with the SSU Sports Development, Culture and the Arts Program (SDCAP) and the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) is now on its third week of ‘Zumba Fun Saya’, a Zumba dance break every Wednesday at the SSU Grounds.
The month-long activity is believed to benefit many aspects of mental health as the combination of exercise and dance alleviate built-up stress, anger, or anxiety.
“Exercise can help reduce negative moods and enhance emotional well-being by releasing feel-good endorphins,” said Dr. Mae V. Cañal, Director for Student Welfare & Development Services and Progam Chair of the Psychology Department.
More than 50 students and faculty joined the three sessions of Zumba.
On May 25 (22), the last Zumba session will be held on and all faculty and students are enjoined to attend the ‘perfect mood booster’ at 3PM.
