CATBALOGAN CITY – Samar State University (SSU) warmly welcomed the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary for Regional Operations Sancho A. Mabborang and other DOST officials and staff on March 18 (22) for a Project Monitoring and Visit.
In his message, Usec. Mabborang shared his aim of making sure that “No region is left begin”. In fact, the University is his 7th SUC visited since his term as Undersecretary. He challenged the University to generate more projects and get more funds from DOST to help achieve the long-term vision of the country.
SSU President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso expressed her gratitude to the Undersecretary and for the strong commitment and support of DOST to the University.
Engr. Mabborang commended the three (3) DOST-funded projects of the University, namely, the Establishment of the Eastern Visayas Center for Crustacean Research and Development (EVCCRD) by Pro. Rene Diocton, Technology Business Incubator, Local Alliance of Marine-Based and Food Technology (TBI-LAMBAT) by Dr. Vivian L. Moya, and the WATCH HAB R8: Understanding the Social Dimensions of Red Tide Phenomena in Samar by Dr. Edelyn Echapare.
An honouring ceremony to award the University Medallion and certificate of commendation to the Undersecretary and a ribbon cutting ceremony for the SSU TBI-LAMBAT product exhibit were also held consequently during the visit.
