SSU conducts Comprehensive Safety, Sanitation, Emergency Preparedness Training

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University, through its General Services Office (GSO), and in collaboration with various units, is conducting a two-day Comprehensive Safety, Sanitation, and Emergency Preparedness Training at the Convention Center, SSU Main Campus, Catbalogan City, from March 5 to 6, 2026.

The activity aims to strengthen campus readiness, promote proper sanitation standards, and enhance the emergency response capabilities of SSU personnel.

On the first day of the training, resource speakers from partner agencies shared expertise through lectures and practical demonstrations. FO2 Luigi Jan A. Casurao, training specialist from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), delivered a session on safety training and awareness, which included hands-on demonstrations on basic safety procedures.

Maria Vida C. Lamadrid, City Sanitation Inspector V from the Catbalogan City Local Government Unit, also conducted a session on housekeeping and sanitation practices. Her presentation highlighted proper sanitation standards and practical measures that personnel can implement in maintaining clean and safe facilities.

Through lectures, scenario-based exercises, and demonstrations, participants gained knowledge and practical skills essential in ensuring a safe and resilient campus environment.

For the second day, the attendees are set to participate in additional training sessions led by BFP specialists. FO1 Martin P. Palardon will discuss fire protection, prevention, and control, while FO2 Angierose C. Regencia will present on disaster preparedness and response. Both sessions will include practical demonstrations to further equip participants with emergency response competencies.

The initiative reflects SSU’s continuing commitment to fostering a secure, sustainable, and disaster-ready academic community.
