SSU’s new USC take oath, ushers in fresh era of campus governance


CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—The newly elected University Student Council (USC) officers of Samar State University formally took their oath of office today at the President’s Office, marking the official start of their leadership following the USC Elections 2026.
Leading the roster of student leaders is USC President Kaven Philip L. Nuñez of the Democratic Union of Youth for Good Governance (DUYOG) Party, who secured 1,050 votes. Elected as USC Vice President is Adriana Jessie B. Mañas of the Dignified Alliance for Student Welfare, Independence, and Good Governance (DASIG) Party, garnering 1,245 votes from participating colleges across the university.
Representing the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) are Mark Anthony N. Gabiana, Jacob Andrei M. Corrales, Mark Lawrence G. Mabansag, and Besavil T. Golias. For the College of Education (COED), Nathan John M. Mejica, Jomar R. Bantilan, and Estele J. Beriño were elected, while John Michael A. Cabello emerged as representative of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS) as the lone candidate. Completing the council lineup are the College of Industrial Technology (CIT) representatives: Hindrich D. Abadiano II, Aldwin L. Obinguar, Merryl Jade S. Evasco, Randel G. Cadaingan, and Bryan J. Dabandan.
The oath of office was administered by University President Redentor Palencia today, March 2, 2026, at the University President’s Office, SSU Main Campus, Catbalogan City. Also present during the oathtaking were members of the SSU Commission on Elections and Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Engr. Ma. Lourdes P. Amante.
