IPOPHL grants copyright to 29 Instructional Materials by 18 SSU faculty members

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—18 faculty members from Samar State University (SSU) were granted copyright protection for 29 instructional materials by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). This marks another milestone in the University’s commitment to quality instruction and academic excellence.

The copyrighted instructional materials (IM), approved as of January 7, 2026, include modules, learning packets, laboratory manuals, PowerPoint presentations, and creative works developed by faculty members across various colleges across the SSU system. The IMs are intended to support classroom instruction, enhance student learning outcomes, and strengthen the University’s academic offerings.

From the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), the grantees and their approved works include Dr. Nathalie Ann A. Acosta and Mr. Tranie B. Gatil for Art Appreciation, Purposive Communication, and International English Language modules; Mr. Mark Angelo Bathan for CC102 – Computer Programming 1 learning packet; Ms. Emma Q. Tenedero for Psych Statistics and Survey Operations modules, and Validation of Research Instruments (PowerPoint presentation); and Dr. Rezy V. Mendaño for General Zoology laboratory manual.

From the College of Education (COED), copyright grantees include Dr. Art T. Roncesvalles for Estruktura at Gamit ng Wikang Filipino and Panitikan ng Pilipinas modules, and Mga Katotohanan at Paniniwala Tungkol sa Wika (PowerPoint presentation); Dr. Ariel A. Mabansag for CE 2 – Rationalization 1 and Math 7/Math 9 – Modern Geometry (PowerPoint presentations), and Math 7/Math 9 – Modern Geometry module; Dr. Elmer A. Irene for Inorganic Chemistry module; Mr. Jeff Harold B. Uy for English 18 – Language Learning Materials Development module; and Ms. Glory Grace E. Godin and Ms. Abegail Bordios for SANDAG 2022, a creative work.

From the College of Engineering (COENG), Dr. Felisa E. Gomba received copyright for CES 3 – Water Supply Planning and Development module, while Engr. Meddy S. Mangaring was granted copyright for EE2 – Circuits 2 Learning Packet 1 and Learning Packet 2.

From the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS), Dr. Dolores M. Arteche secured copyright for Concepts, Principles, and Theories in the Care of Older Adults and Theories of Aging modules.

Faculty members from external campuses were likewise recognized. From SSU Mercedes Campus, Ms. Shirleen Grace A. Brillantes received copyright for Marine Zoology 1 module and Oceanography 1 laboratory manual, while Ms. Donita A. Mabonga was granted copyright for PATH-FIT 1 – Menu of Dance and PATH-FIT 3 – Movement Competency Training modules. From SSU Paranas Campus, Dr. Arnel A. Mabingnay secured copyright for EED14 – Technology for Teaching and Learning in Elementary Grade and Professional Education 1 – The Child and Adolescent Learners and Learning Principles modules.

From the College of Industrial Technology (CIT), Dr. Danette May C. Abalos received copyright registration for GE 9 – Sosyedad at Literatura/Panitikang Panlipunan module.

The copyright registration was processed through the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Office (IPTBO) headed by Dr. Vivian L. Moya, with facilitation and coordination from the Office of the Curriculum and Instruction Development Center (CIDC) under Dr. Nathalie Ann A. Acosta.

With the continued collaboration among faculty members and support offices, SSU reinforces its role as a knowledge-producing institution committed to innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable development.
