SSU renews ties with DOST’s HEIRIT Program; sustains technopreneurship, innovation in Eastern Visayas

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU) reinforced its role as a regional innovation leader through a renewal of ties with DOST’s Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) Program. The Renewal of Commitment Ceremony was held during the 9th National Technology Business Incubator (TBI) Summit on November 7, 2025 at the Citadines Bacolod in Bacolod City. Held under the theme, “The Innovation Archipelago: Connecting Ecosystems, Expanding Horizons,” the summit is convened by the DOST Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD).

As part of the event, SSU, through its Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (IPTBDO), Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), and its TBI-LAMBAT initiative, formally reaffirmed its commitment to the DOST-endorsed Technology Business Incubators under the HEIRIT Program.

Represented at the ceremony by Dr. Vivian L. Moya, Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Development Office (IPTBDO), SSU stressed its commitment to continue serving as a nexus for startup formation, technology transfer, and regional economic growth in Eastern Visayas. Under the HEIRIT Program, the University prides on its many initiatives under the TBI-LAMBAT incubator, notable for being the first technology-business incubator on Samar Island. Aligning with DOST’s HEIRIT network allows SSU to continue hosting and nurturing startup ventures, attract technology transfer opportunities, and collaborate with industry partners.
