BAGUIO CITY, Philippines— Samar State University (SSU) President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia was among the distinguished honorees recognized by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE), Inc. during its 54th National and 15th International Convention held at Saint Louis University, Baguio City, on October 9, 2025.
Dr. Palencia was recognized for his remarkable achievements as President of Samar State University from 2024 until present. The award was received on his behalf by Dr. Laura B. Boller, Dean of the SSU College of Education and PAFTE Region 8 Vice Chairperson.
Joining Dr. Palencia among the honorees was former SSU President Dr. Marilyn Cardoso, who was likewise conferred the same recognition for her outstanding stewardship and long-standing commitment to quality teacher education.
The awarding ceremony, themed “From Service to Summit: Honoring Our Trailblazers,” celebrated the leadership, legacy, and lifelong service of PAFTE officers and members who have advanced to the presidency of colleges and universities across the country. The event was led by PAFTE National President Dr. Brenda B. Corpuz.
Through this recognition, PAFTE honors the invaluable contributions of higher education institutions’ (HEI) leaders in advancing quality education, promoting academic distinction, and strengthening the professional growth of teachers and educators across the region and beyond.
Dr. Palencia’s recognition underscores SSU’s continued prominence and leadership in advancing quality education and sustainable development in the region.
