NAVAL, BILIRAN, Philippines—A powerful symbol of unity and shared resolve unfolded at the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) Gymnasium as delegates of the 6th International and 9th National Conference on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development (iPOVCON 2025) came together for the Commitment Signing Ceremony: a reaffirmation of their pledge to pursue collaborative, technology-driven efforts in the fight against poverty.
Hosted by Samar State University (SSU) in partnership with Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) and the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) – Region 8, iPOVCON 2025 carries the theme “Technology-Driven Solutions for Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Sustainability.” The two-day conference has brought together 179 educators, researchers, and advocates from across the globe.
The signing ceremony marked one of the most defining moments of the conference’s first day. Representatives from partner institutions, government agencies, and participating organizations formally affixed their signatures to the iPOVCON 2025 Commitment Board, symbolizing their dedication to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on ending poverty and promoting sustainable and equitable growth.
During the ceremony, the commitment signing was expressed as more than a ceremonial gesture, but a living covenant among stakeholders who share one vision of poverty-free communities empowered by science, technology, and education. As the first day of iPOVCON 2025 drew to a close, the Commitment Signing Ceremony stood as a testament to the power of collective will; not only as an endnote to the day’s activities but a starting point for deeper cooperation. Through this symbolic act, iPOVCON 2025 reaffirmed its core belief: that ending poverty is possible when innovation meets intention, and when collaboration becomes action.
