SSU undergoes AACCUP Online Accreditation Survey Visit

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU) continues to uphold its commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance as it has undergone the AACCUP Online Accreditation Survey Visit from September 29 to October 3, 2025.

The online accreditation, facilitated by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc., aimed to assess the quality of SSU’s academic programs and institutional areas in alignment with national and international standards.

The accreditation covered various program areas, including BS in Pharmacy, Bachelor of Secondary Education, and the Area for Library. The AACCUP Survey Team facilitated the evaluation with Prof. Florieza M. Mangubat (Team Leader) and Dr. Maria Theresa Q. Yusico (Member) leading for BS in Pharmacy, Dr. Cheryl G. Hachero (Team Leader) and Dr. Rolan J. Malvar (Member) for Bachelor of Secondary Education, and Ms. Lorenel D. Gako (Member) for the Library Area.

Throughout the week, SSU showcased its academic programs, facilities, research outputs, and extension initiatives through virtual presentations and documentary evidence. The activity concluded with an Exit Conference and Closing Program on October 3, featuring a general impression by Dr. Agnes D. Arellano. The Pledge of Commitment was headed by SSU President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia, and a closing message followed from Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Felisa E. Gomba.

At SSU’s end, the local task force was led by Dr. Dolores L. Areteche, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Dr. Lourdes C. Delmonte, Campus Director of SSU-Paranas, and Mr. Jake Boy D. Carbonquillo, Director of University Quality Assurance. This accreditation process served as an essential step toward ensuring continuous improvement in instruction, research, extension, and governance.
