CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU) has reached a landmark achievement as all its undergraduate program offerings are now officially compliant based on the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) evaluation.
The COPC is a regulatory mechanism that ensures higher education programs strictly adhere to CHED’s minimum standards, including faculty qualifications, facilities, curriculum, research, and student services. For SSU, earning COPC status across the board signals a strengthened academic reputation and heightened trust from stakeholders.
“It is our commitment to make sure that SSU will be providing quality education in accordance with the mandates of all regulating bodies, and this 100% COPC compliance in all our programs is our testament to being true to that commitment of quality education for all,” said Mr. Jake Boy Carbonquillo, Director of the SSU Quality Assurance Office.
For students, the achievement brings tangible benefits.
“As a nursing student, knowing that Samar State University has able to achieve 100% compliance with CHED assures me that I am studying in a school with quality facilities, competent teachers and strong community involvement, which gives me confidence that I will be well prepared for my future career, and I know this will also benefit every student because it means that we are all receiving education that meets the highest standards,” shared Bella Pacoma, a second-year BS Nursing student.
