ILIGAN CITY, Philippines—A benchmarking activity on Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) was conducted by Samar State University (SSU) on August 12–13, 2024, at the Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).
The SSU delegation, composed of four officials and researchers, engaged with MSU-IIT counterparts to gain insights into the organizational structure, policies, and practices of a successful RDE M&E unit. The team included Dr. Vivian L. Moya, Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management Office and Executive Director of the University Extension Services; Dr. Rhejane Rosales, Chairperson of the Institutional Human Research Ethics Committee; Christine Gloria Grace G. Capidos, Science Research Specialist I; and Reuben Y. Corrige, Science Research Specialist I.
The activity aimed to identify and document the forthcoming unit’s structure, roles, and functions; explore best practices in tools, methodologies, and reporting; and understand how M&E processes align with institutional goals and project cycles. It also sought to lay down the groundwork for establishing SSU’s own RDE M&E unit by developing a framework and a concrete action plan.
Through this initiative, SSU expects to gain a clearer understanding of the requirements for setting up a functional RDE M&E Unit and to finalize an action plan and timeline for its establishment.
