CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State
University (SSU) supports the Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and
Well-being) with the study, “Awareness, Availment, and Satisfaction
on Various Health Services Among Residents of a Rural Community in Samar,
Philippines: A Mixed Method Study,” published in the
Scopus-indexed journal, Acta Medica Philippina.
The study was conducted by Samar State University researchers Dr. Sherrie
Ann Cananua-Labid, Asst. Prof. Julie Ann M. Quilatan, Dr. Abigail M. Cabaguing,
and Asst. Prof. Jhonil C. Bajado, in collaboration with Dr. Sheriah Laine M. de
Paz-Silava of the University of the Philippines, who also served as one of its
principal authors.
The study was published in the 58th volume of the said journal and looked
into citizens’ awareness, availment, satisfaction, and perceived need for
action with health services offered by a rural municipality in Samar,
Philippines.

Apart from SDG 3, this research contribution also supports SDG 1 (No
Poverty) for promoting better access to health services, SDG 10 (Reduced
Inequalities) by highlighting gaps in health service access and satisfaction in
a rural community, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) for guiding
potential collaborations between local governments, health institutions, and
communities to improve health service delivery.
