CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—In celebration of the 2025 ASEAN Month, Samar State University (SSU) joined academic institutions across the region in commemorating “Buwan ng ASEAN: Sama-Sama sa Pag-Unlad” through a virtual simultaneous flag ceremony led by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
The ceremony was virtually graced by CHED Region Office VIII Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, and the Presidents and key officials of various state universities and colleges (SUC) and higher education institutions (HEI) in the region. Meanwhile, SSU was represented by University President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia, together with the Vice Presidents, Deans and Campus Directors, Chief Administrative Officers, and Unit Heads of the university.
The SSU workforce donned traditional ASEAN-themed ensembles as a gesture of respect and pride in both national identity and regional cultural heritage. The coordinated ceremony showed SSU’s commitment to honoring Filipino culture while maintaining solidarity with its Southeast Asian neighbors.
