CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) visited Samar State University (SSU) today, July 30, for an onsite validation of Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) endorsements for the Bachelor of Science in Architecture program of the College of Industrial Technology, and Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management (PhD TM) program of the SSU Graduate School.
Foremost on the agenda is the Bachelor of Science in Architecture offered by SSU’s College of Industrial Technology (CIT). The visit aims to determine whether the program meets CHED’s prescribed minimum standards and aligns with national higher education policies. Evaluators are expected to examine the curriculum, faculty credentials, instructional resources, and engage in dialogues with university officials and teaching staff. In addition, CHED is also evaluating SSU’s PhD in Technology Management program as part today’s onsite visit.
The BS Architecture program forms part of SSU’s growing portfolio designed to strengthen local capabilities in the design, planning, and construction sectors. Meanwhile, the PhD program in Technology Management seeks to produce thought leaders equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of innovation and governance across industries.
Once granted, the COPCs will formally recognize both programs under CHED guidelines, certifying their legitimacy to operate as higher education offerings. Results from the evaluation are expected after CHED concludes its review of findings and recommendations.
