CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines—Samar State University (SSU) President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia delivered a talk on Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) among 21 graduate students of the Dong Thap University (DThU) today, July 22, 2025, at the Convention Center, SSU Main Campus, Catbalogan City. This session is part of the week-long SSU-DThU Interim Field Trip, an international academic collaboration led by the SSU International Affairs Office, in partnership with the SSU Graduate School and DThU.
Dr. Palencia’s lecture titled “From Theory to Practice: Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) in Diverse Language Classrooms” focused on various communicative approaches in the English language, communicative competences, instructional materials for English language teaching, and the core characteristics that support current applications of communicative methodology.
President Palencia emphasized the crucial role educators play in creating learner-centered environments and tailoring pedagogical strategies to diverse multilingual and multicultural contexts.
The week-long program is administered to deepen pedagogical insights between SSU and DThU’s English language teaching, adopt cross-cultural learning, and build global partnerships in education.
